Introduction

For over 15 years The Good Samaritan Society has been hosting the “Spirit of Caring” Golf Tournament raising over $459,000 for resident comfort and care throughout our various facilities and programs. With spring in the air, the date has been booked for the 16th “Spirit of Caring” Golf Tournament on June 12, 2008 at The Links Golf Course in Spruce Grove. This year we hope to raise $85,000 for the purchase of electric beds in our Mill Woods Care Centre, Southgate Care Centre, and Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Centre.

For most of us a bed may not seem like a life-changing purchase, but to someone who spends a good portion of their day in one, a proper bed can make an impactful change in their life as well as the hard-working care staff! Moving patients can be physically demanding for care staff and is a leading cause of work related injuries. As the healthcare workforce ages, electric beds will make the physical portion of their work easier so they can stay in the workforce longer, slowing the current and growing shortage of healthcare workers.

With this worthy cause in mind, we invite you to golf in our 2008 tournament. The $165 golfer’s fee includes the promise of an enjoyable day of golf with a power cart.  Sunlife Financial have fully sponsored our Banquet lunch, therefore you will once again receive a generous $90 tax receipt. Of course, the day would not be complete without the golfers’ breakfast, snacks, silent auction and distribution of fabulous prizes. Those who do not want to golf can still enjoy the delicious barbeque lunch for $30.

How to Register

Pint off the registration form and send it in with your payment.  Deadline to register is June 8, 2008.   Register by May 12th to be entered into an early bird draw for four rounds of golf at The Links Golf Course in Spruce Grove!

Prize Support or Donations

Your prize support or donations will be acknowledged in our tournament booklet, which will be distributed to our golfers and all participating businesses.  As well as inclusion in The Journey, our quarterly newsletter with a distribution of over 15,000 copies.  Kindly complete the prize support form and return it with your donated items, or, if you prefer, contact us at 431-3781 and we will arrange to pick the items up.
